ORAL PRESENTATIONS

A selection of the submitted abstracts is chosen for oral presentation. If your abstract is chosen, you will receive a notification from the Organizing Committee.

The submission of abstracts will be open from Monday 26 September 2016.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Monday 24 October 2016. Abstract acceptance will be confirmed by Monday 07 November 2016.
The text of the abstract shall not exceed 400 words.

The selection of abstracts for Oral Presentations on the PhD day will be based on the following points: 
  • The scientific quality and innovation of the presented research and the coherency of the abstract
  • The ability to present your abstract in a manner that will ‘Keep it Simple’ - also for scientists outside your own field
The oral presentation will be followed by short questions from attendants. The presentation should correspond to a presentation given at a conference.
The presentation should be understandable to non-specialists and it is recommended that you limit your presentation to a maximum of 10 slides.
The presentation should be created in PowerPoints for PC.
Make sure to be in the auditorium in time to ensure that everything works. Please bring your presentation on a USB key.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The poster presenter is asked to give a 5 minutes of short oral presentation and answer questions.

Poster content
  • The poster should contain the background for the project, the aim of the project, the methods used, the results that have been obtained and the conclusions. 
  • The content of the poster should be understandable without requiring an oral explanation. Avoid large tables of data.
  • Your poster should encourage discussion, not merely present complex methods and results. 
  • All posters must be presented in English. 

Poster Presentations
  • File-format must be PDF (all fonts embedded) or Powerpoint. You should email to mountfor@fmach.it your poster no later than Monday 24 October 2016. 
  • When presenting the poster, the background and purpose for the study, the main findings, and round off with a conclusion, if possible together with future perspectives should be presented. 
  • Short oral presentation will be followed by a brief discussion. 

Criteria for selection of posters 

The chairmen will be asked to make their selection on the basis of the following points:
  • Intelligibility to someone outside your field
  • Layout (relation between text and illustrations)
  • Clarity and mastery of argumentations (purpose, hypothesis)
  • Logical presentation
  • The stage of the presenter's PhD project will be taken into account

Poster Session details

  • The poster should be in format A0
  • The text should be large enough to read from a distance of 1½ m
  • Results presented in a graph format are effective
  • The poster should be used as basis for the short oral presentation
Poster number, poster-session as well as location for each poster group will be published on the EFI-MOUNTFOR Day webpage on Monday 07 November 2016.
Pins to mount your poster will be provided by the organization. Posters should be removed immediately after conclusion of the scientific programme of the PhD Day.
No responsibility will be taken for posters that are not removed by that time.
