USEFUL TIPS on how to move in Trento HERE EXCURSION The site is part of ICOS RI, a pan-European research infrastructure which provides harmonized and high precision scientific data on carbon cycle and greenhouse gas budget and perturbations. ICOS now has 12 member countries and involves more than 100 measurement locations where greenhouse gas concentrations and fluxes are measured. ICOS provides long term and high quality observations, and will hopefully expand to many more countries and stations in the near future. The tower was installed 15 years ago in a typical alpine grassland, cut one time a year. The canopy is dominated by Festuca rubra (L.), Nardus stricta (L.) and Trifolium sp. The main microclimate parameters are measured together with vegetation indices and phenological data.  Hiking shoes (preferably waterproof) and warm clothes are reccomended. We will provide you with all necessary information beforehand. SOCIAL DINNER The Social Dinner will take place on Tuesday, 7th February, after the Field Trip on Monte Bondone, at Maso Finisterre (http://www.masofinisterre.it/), where you'll taste a traditional meal (appetitizer, first dish, main course, dessert, coffe, wine and water). Cost for person is 35,00€. CLOTHING The weather in Trentino in February is quite cold and chilly, we recommended warm clothes and shoes (preferably waterproof). The center has a strong Renaissance mark with several beautiful buildings adorned by frescoes, some built to accomodate delegates to the Council of Trent (1545-1563). The surroundings of Trento offer beautiful naturalistic tracks on top of mountains, around the numerous lakes or nearby ancient castles.  |
